SMG Review: The Reverend Rick Vito Signature Series Guitar

Reverend Guitars Rick Vito Signature Series Electric Guitar is a stunner!

OUT OF THE BOX

Wow! That was the immediate thought process when I first laid my eye’s on this sweet axe. It looked like an Art Deco race car….with strings! Very impressive. And then I flipped the guitar over to inspect the back side (like I do with all my ladies) and it was just stunning from machine head to the strap button.

The Reverend Guitars Rick Vito Signature Series Electric Guitar was designed in collaboration with Rick Vito of Fleetwood Mac. Rick has worked with Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Todd Rundgren, John Fogerty, Bob Seger, Roger McGuinn, John Mayall, Hank Williams Jr., The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, and many others.

Aside from the killer looks, this guitar has great tone! The korina construction is warm and resonant, the ebony fretboard adds clarity and has a slick feel. The neck P90 has been moved slightly closer to the bridge for extra bite and leaves you with that warm fuzzy feeling in the pit of your stomach. It must be love.

This baby is also equipped with a Dual-Pro bridge pickup that really sets the tone where you want it to be. This awesome pickup was based on a mid 1960’s model that features a hot single coil with a second blade polepiece in addition to the standard screw polepieces. The blade is essential to the unique sound. Here’s how the guys at Reverend put it: “Imagine a P90 meets a Tele with humbucker output… fat, raw and clear. And we managed to fit it all into a standard size humbucker cover, a first in the industry.” Now that’s what I call innovation!

THE LOW DOWN

The Reverend Rick Vito Signature Series Guitar is unique. It has style, comfort, tone and is a joy to play. It is versatile and an eye catcher. The combination of the P-90 and the Dual-Pro bridge pickup really allow you to dial in that signature sound. For the guitar player who is looking for something different than the average Strat, Tele, Les Paul, SG, etc. that you find hanging on the walls of most BIG BOX guitar shops….well this baby is well worth your time in checking it out. The folks at Reverend understand how to craft quality guitars. I would recommend that you check out the Rick Vito Signature Series for yourself, but be forewarned, you might have a little less coin in your bank account afterward. But remember, it is an investment in happiness, musicality and a show piece to say the least. 4 stars, 10 out of 1o, it rocks!

Pros: Killer Style, Light weight, Comfortable, P-90, Dual-Pro bridge pickup, Great Neck, Awesome tone, Two-tone teardrop case.

Cons: N/A.

List Price – $1559 w/ Teardrop case.

” (like I do with all my ladies) “… really? Was that comment necessary?

  • @nicholaspaul – that was a reference to my other guitars not actually woman. The innuendo was intentional for the sake of humor but I apologize if that offended you in any way and thanks for reading the review!

“” (like I do with all my ladies) “… really? Was that comment necessary?”

God, I’m tired of PC police trying to rule the fucking world (oh, no – I said “fuck”!).
*I* got the double-entendre in your review, Mickey, and I thought it was kinda funny.
Don’t let anyone “shame you” into not expressing yourself however the hell you want to.
I, also, have one of these Reverend Art Deco deals – and she’s a dirty slut of a guitar.
    I love her.
She plays whatever I like. Just how I like it.
She both purrs and growls and looks extremely hot while doing so.
    A damn sexy little guitar.

  • Jeff, thanks for the feedback! I’m glad that you get the humor and that is one awesome guitar you own!!! Thanks again and ROCK ON!
