SMG REVIEW: Ibanez Euphoria Steve Vai Signature Acoustic-Electric Guitar

Ibanez Euphoria Steve Vai Signature Acoustic-Electric Guitar

Ibanez is a Japanese guitar company owned by Hoshino Gakki and known for offering musicians in the rock/metal genre a guitar that offers all the necessary options to shred. The modern era of Ibanez guitars began in 1957 when Hoshino Gakki began importing Salvador Ibáñez guitars from Spain. Over the years, the Ibanez popularity has risen and gained a following amongst seasoned musicians. Did you know that early Japanese built guitars are considered as good as, if not superior to US built axes of the same period?

OFF THE RACK

The Ibanez Euphoria Steve Vai Signature Acoustic-Electric Guitar is very comfortable and fits to the body very well. With its thinner profile you will be able to get more out of the guitar and play for longer periods of time. Even though the body is thinner than other acoustics, the sound is still very bright and quite loud. It’s made of mahogany with a solid Engelmann Spruce top for a bright, articulate sound and feedback resistance. The Ibanez Euphoria has a rosewood bridge and fretboard, and Ivorex II nut and saddle for increased tension and sustain. The Euphoria is outfitted with a Fishman Sonicore Pickup and Ibanez AEQ210TF preamp, designed especially for thin bodies. It has a 2-band control making adjusting the sound easy. A phase switch is also included for reducing feedback and a user-friendly onboard tuner round out the electronics. The neck is fast and slim making it easy to perform leads and fast chordal changes. The mahogany body gives you that deep rich tone with amazing sustain. The Fishman pickup is perfectly matched giving you that extra push of volume needed to bring you to the front lines.

THE LOW DOWN

The Ibanez Euphoria Steve Vai Signature is a great acoustic designed to be loud with little to no feedback issues. It is very comfortable and has excellent resonance and sustain. This is not for those who want a quiet background style acoustic….this is made to be loud and proud.

The features are top notch and are well put together. The onboard pre-amps are well balanced and are easy to dial in with the simple two band EQ. The Neck is fast and with the cutaway, higher frets are easy to get to. The action is low with no buzzing and perfect intonation. The Mahogany body has that rich deep bass and crisp bright mids and high’s….definitely a balanced tonal range. All in all, this is the perfect live or recording guitar that is easy to play and with superb tone. I was pleased to see that the Ibanez Euphoria has a low price tag, this is a deal that you just can’t beat.

Pros: Bright sound. Great sustain. Thin profile. Great action. On-board preamp. Cutaway. Fishman pickup. Great price.

Cons: N/A

Price Range: $499 – $550
