Robbie Robertson’s guitar solo at the end of The Band’s song “King Harvest” is epic.

Unfair Question! Sure, the guys named are some of the greats. However, you can tell by the comments above that no one player is the greatest. Another great is Roy Buchanan, and his rendition of Hey, Joe is notable for sure. A lot of the judging would depend on who the listener is and the genre should be narrowed down also. There are simply too many variables. Maybe the originator of the question should simply name his own preference and let it go at that.

I think that my personal favorite really, is Eric Clapton’s live solo of Crossroads. The one that’s published on Strange Brew/The Very Best Of Cream.

I guess if I wanted to be political about things, I’d pick someone like what others did, but this is my personal favorite solo to perform in spite of the fact that I can do all of the above solos too. But anyway…

I got a BIG question. In that picture of the Guitar Gods up there, where is THEE Guitar God? Where is CLAPTON? You cannot have Guitar Gods without including Eric Clapton.

    Here’s a few I love…

Mark Knopfler – Tunnel Of Love (end solo)starts from nothing and builds to a beautiful and melodic climax.
Jimi Hendrix – All Along The Watchtower.
Sonny Landreth – Z Rider and Next To Kindred Spirit.
Albert Lee, Vince Gill and Brad Paisley all on Albert’s stunning instrumental version of Luxury Liner.
Stevie Ray Vaughan – Riviera Paradise.
